The Romance of the Middle Ages

I wouldn't be doing my medievalist duty if I neglected to tell you about the current exhibition at the Bodleian Library, 'The Romance of the Middle Ages'. For those of you who are in Oxford, I advise you to go without delay; for those of you who aren't, the website is a pretty excellent substitute. In fact, since you can zoom in on things and you don't have to put up with the crowds, it's very nearly as good ;)

They have lots of amazing things, including but not limited to (OK, these were just the ones that most excited me): the unique manuscript of 'Sir Gawain and the Green Knight' (!); C. S. Lewis' annotated copy of Tolkien's edition of 'Gawain' (with drawings!); the Percy Folio (!); the one surviving manuscript of Havelok the Dane (!); a bit of Piers Plowman; and the Vernon Manuscript, which has featured here so often this Christmas. And lots of good stuff besides of a Chaucerian and Arthurian variety, for those of you who like such things.

Enjoy!
