On another academic note, today is the anniversary of the death of Robert Grosseteste (1175-1253), first Chancellor of the University of Oxford. According to one contemporary (Matthew Paris, I think, but I'm not quite sure), Grosseteste was said to be pleased when students stayed away from his lectures at Oxford, because it saved him from the sin of pride. I don't think many of his modern counterparts would agree...
